Due to its impressive natural landscape, Gröden is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful holiday regions in South Tyrol, worth a visit at any time of the year.
Famous Athletes
Gröden is associated with well-known personalities such as Carolina Kostner and Peter Runggaldier, and the region still attracts countless skiers and snowboarders every year, with slopes of all difficulty levels and modern lift facilities waiting for them. World-famous slopes include the Seceda and the Saslong, and Gröden is also connected to the Dolomiti Superski – the largest ski carousel in the world – making cross-border skiing possible. Moreover, Gröden is an absolute paradise for all cross-country skiers, including the village of St. Ulrich, where more than 60 kilometers of trails await the athletes. A very special experience is winter hiking in the idyllic snowy landscape, which leads guests, for example, to the Seiser Alm.
Mountain Streams and Alpine Huts
As the weather warms up again, a rich variety of hiking and walking trails beckons. A leisurely hike takes those seeking relaxation along the Poststeig from Lajan to St. Ulrich or over the Ramitzler Schwaige to the Außerraschötz. In contrast, an alpine tour from the Grödner Joch to the Pisciadú Lake or to the Sass Pardoi is more challenging.
Training Endurance
Of course, bikers also find excellent conditions in the Gröden Valley. They have access to a well-developed network of bike paths and forest roads as well as single trails, and there is also the option to be accompanied by an experienced guide. Nordic walking is more leisurely, as Gröden also has its own Nordic Walking Park, which starts in the Langental.
Sea of the Dolomites
Swimming enjoyment awaits both large and small guests at the Mar Dolomit indoor and outdoor pool, which features various outdoor and indoor pools, a brine outdoor pool, a glass steam room, and ergonomic loungers. Children have fun in their own children's pool, on the adventure slide, or in the whirlpool.
Noteworthy Excursion Destinations
The Gröden Valley also offers a considerable number of natural spectacles, monuments, or memorials for visitors. The sundial on Monte Pana, which has a diameter of 2 meters and shows the time for 60 cities, is very impressive. Culture enthusiasts can also visit the parish church of St. Ulrich and the St. Jakob Church, which is the oldest church in Gröden. The Gröden woodcarving is also world-famous, having originated in the 17th century. In the 18th century, there were even more than 40 woodcarvers in the valley who produced nativity scenes, crucifixes, or statues.
