In Hochpustertal, guests can find numerous spectacular natural spectacles, including the Pragser Wildsee, which is probably one of the most impressive mountain lakes in South Tyrol. Another showcase jewel is the Plätzwiese, which is especially well-suited for cross-country skiing, hiking, and relaxing. The municipality of Braies is also very well-known due to the Dolomiti-Superbike, a mountain biking competition that takes participants across the Plätzwiese.
Distinctive Mountain Range
Another attraction is, of course, the Three Peaks, the landmark of Hochpustertal, which attracts countless nature lovers and climbers every year. Furthermore, Sexten is also surrounded by the eponymous nature park, where the famous “Sexten Sundial” can be found. In winter, there is the opportunity for cross-country skiing in the Fischleintal, skiers are drawn to the Rotwand, while tobogganing fun is guaranteed on the Rotwand meadows.
Gateway to the Dolomites
The municipality of Toblach is considered the gateway to the Dolomites, with the enchanting Toblacher See and the beautiful Dürrensee. Here, between 1908 and 1980, Gustav Mahler stayed, who owned a composing house in Toblach. Additionally, the popular Toblach Cortina cross-country skiing event, the Dolomiti Balloon Festival, and the International Choir Festival are held here. Culture enthusiasts should visit the Herbstenburg and the five Passion Chapels located on Maximilianstraße.
High Altitude Spa Town Niederdorf
At an altitude of 1,154 meters lies the high-altitude spa town of Niederdorf, where the first Kneipp experience village in Italy can be found. Here, one can relax amidst a dreamlike backdrop while hiking or biking, as Niederdorf is also the starting and ending point of the Dolomiti Superbike. In winter, various ski areas such as Kronplatz, Rotwand, or Helm can be reached in no time, and the impressive landscape can also be enjoyed while winter hiking or on snowshoe tours.
Diverse Adventure Vacation
The municipality of Innichen also has a lot to offer, where one can visit the Dolomythos Museum, which presents the development of the well-known mountains. Additionally, in winter, the International Snow Sculpture Festival and the Balloon Glow take place in Innichen, and the parish church of St. Michael, built in the 12th century, is also worth seeing.
